Motorcycle test: trainer booking arrangements
Since December 2008, DSA has been able to offer approved training bodies (ATBs) the opportunity to book training slots on the DSA motorcycle manoeuvring area (MMA), providing ATBs and candidates the chance to practice on the MMA using the speed measuring equipment.
This facility has been provided under a trial agreement and training slots have been offered on a ‘free of charge’ basis for the duration of that agreement.
The trial period is now coming to an end and, following the success of the trial, DSA is pleased to announce that it will continue to offer training slots under a new permanent agreement.
The date for the end of the trial agreement is still to be confirmed but is likely to be in the Spring of 2010.
To continue to use the MMA for training purposes, ATBs will need to have registered for the scheme under a new agreement.
The main difference is that the new agreement will allow DSA to request a payment for use of the MMA. This charge has not yet been confirmed and we will write to you separately once we are in a position to advise you appropriately. No charge will be made for training slots before the end of the trial period.
ATBs are able to download and submit the new agreement now to register for the new scheme and ensure uninterrupted use of the MMA. No charge will be made for training slots before the end of the trial period even if ATBs have submitted their registration for the permanent agreement. ATBs that have not submitted the new agreement will have their entitlement to use the MMA for training sessions removed once the trial period is completed.
Weekend practice slots are available at all MPTCs except Cardington. A list of MPTCs and casual sites offering weekday training slots is attached.
